Unit 1: Anatomy & Physiology for Exercise and Health
Develop a practical understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, posture, core stability and body systems, and how they respond to exercise, to support safe and effective teaching.
Unit 2: Supporting Clients in Exercise & Physical Activity
Learn how to communicate effectively, motivate clients, address barriers to participation, and support long-term adherence in an inclusive and professional way.
Unit 3: Health, Safety & Welfare in a Fitness Environment
Understand professional responsibilities around health and safety, risk assessment, safeguarding, and duty of care when working in a fitness environment.
Unit 4: Principles of Exercise, Fitness & Health
Explore how exercise affects the body, including fitness principles, training variables, contraindications, and how to adapt exercise safely for different populations.
Unit 5: Principles of Pilates Matwork
Study the origins, principles and fundamentals of classical Pilates matwork, including the structure and purpose of a complete Pilates class.
Unit 6: Programming Pilates Matwork
Learn how to screen clients, set goals, and design progressive, individualised Pilates matwork programmes that are safe, effective and adaptable.
Unit 7: Instructing Pilates Matwork
Develop the practical skills to plan, deliver, adapt and reflect on Pilates matwork sessions, including cueing, observation, correction and professional teaching presence.
